Essential Fatty Acids

EFA’s or Essential Fatty Acids are polyunsaturated fats that cannot be naturally produced by the body. These “good” fats are necessary for good health, and a deficiency will affect the body in many negative ways.

The two most commonly recognized EFAs are alpha-linolenic acid, (omega-3) and linoleic acid (omega-6). Some researchers consider gamma-linolenic acid (omega-6), lauric acid (saturated fatty acid), and palmitoleic acid (monosaturated fatty acid) equally essential.

In skin health a shortage shows as dry, cracked, rough, crusted, scaling, inflexible, irritable, red, sensitive and/or diseased skin. Many skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, acne and psoriasis or over dry skin can benefit dramatically from oral and topical use of EFAs.

EFAs are abundant in oily fish, poultry, grains, eggs and a number of essential plants oils. Through dietary sources Most people have an abundance of Omega 3 fatty acids, but are short Omega 6 fatty acids.

Both are key to proper skin and body function.

EFAs are natures secret to soft supple skin, and for truly radiant skin, you should use these oils daily.
We incorporate EFA’s into our skincare products using plant extracts and natural sources high in these key essentials.
